How Muhira Connect is Launching Burundi’s Next Generation of Leaders

At Muhira Connect, we believe that a great idea is only the beginning. It is the connection; the meeting of a willing heart with a guiding hand that turns a spark into a flame. This month, we are celebrating two powerful stories that prove exactly that. They are stories of young people who dared to dream, and a community that said, "We will help you build."

Here is how Daniella and Patience are changing their communities, and how a man named Ephraim helped them find their wings.

From a Heavy Heart to a Helping Hand: Daniella’s Journey

For Daniella, the journey began with a burden. In September 2025, the reality of what young girls endure during their menstrual cycles; a reality she admits she had ignored pressed heavily on her heart. She wanted to help, but she was just a student, facing the common hurdle of not knowing where to start.

She did the only thing she could: she prayed and she shared her burden with friends.

A month later, on October 9th, Daniella being part of the catalyze community from OneHope, she was recommended as a trusted, responsible intern that could volunteer at the Muhira Connect game night. Her role was to help welcome people at the gate. Not even planning to hear the main message of the evening. But God had other plans. She had mentioned her idea to Ketty, who then shared it with Gaga. That same evening, Gaga called Daniella over and introduced her to a man named Ephraim Ngendakuriyo.

It was a divine appointment. Ephraim wasn’t just a sympathetic listener; he was the founder of an organization making exactly what Daniella had dreamed of: reusable sanitary pads. In that moment, her idea met its missing piece.

“From that moment,” Daniella shares, “it stopped being just an idea, it became a project.”

With Ephraim’s promise of support, Daniella rallied her friends, fundraised with passion, and watched in awe as God moved in the hearts of people to give. Little by little, the funds came together.

On March 9th, 2026, Daniella led a team of 17 people to the province of Cibitoke.

There, they met with 150 young girls. They didn’t just hand out packages of four reusable pads each; they shared the Gospel. They restored dignity and hope.

Daniella reflects, “I am truly grateful for Muhira Connect a place where dreamers like me find wings to fly.”

Patience’s Vision: From a Conversation to a Movement

Patience’s story follows a similar thread. After completing the Catalyze program with OneHope, he became a facilitator. He had a vision, but he was looking for the right door. His leaders from the program: Florian and Ketty pointed him to Muhira Connect, describing it as a place to meet people who have already achieved things you can learn from.

When Florian mentioned he knew someone at Muhira Connect doing similar work, Patience was intrigued. Daniella chimed in, confirming that she had also met someone there teaching sewing skills to empower women. That someone was again Ephraim Ngendakuriyo.

When Patience finally connected with Ephraim, he didn’t just find a mentor; he found a father figure. Ephraim offered to support Patience and his colleague Chrétien, even offering to let them work under his organization's covering.

“He welcomed us like his sons,” Patience says with gratitude.

This partnership has already borne fruit. Recently, Patience and his team, in collaboration with Ephraim’s organization Together for Development - Birashoboka, hosted a conference titled “Unlocking Your Potential.” The goal was simple yet profound: to help young people discover the gifts God placed in them so they can impact their communities and change their nation. Over 200 people came, surpassing their goal of 150.

A Word of Thanks

These stories are not just about Daniella or Patience; they are about the power of a community that connects. They are about Ephraim, a man with a generous spirit who saw potential in these young leaders and chose to invest in them. And they are about you our Muhira Connect family who create the space where these divine connections happen.

To Ephraim, we say Murakoze cane! For being a living example of how to build others up.

To Daniella and Patience, we say: You are the future of Burundi. Keep dreaming. Keep building.

And to our readers: Let this be a reminder that your idea, no matter how small it seems, is just one connection away from becoming a reality.

Blessings, Muhira Connect
